Taste of the Town
Taste of the Town Speakeasy
Thanks to your support, Taste of the Town Speakeasy was our most successful event to date. Taste of the Town is Foundation for Baltimore County Public Library's premier annual event. The 2017 event, Speakeasy, took place on Saturday, April 29 at the Towson Branch from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Guests got a taste of Baltimore County and the surrounding area by sampling food and drink from local restaurants, caterers, wineries and breweries, enjoyed live jazz music, played games in our Casino Castle and bid on an exciting and eclectic assortment of items in a silent auction. This year's silent auction featured items worth over $17,000.
This year's honorary host was David White, one of the world’s leading wine writers. The author of But First, Champagne: A Modern Guide to the World’s Favorite Wine, David is a contributor to Grape Collective and the founder and editor of Terroirist.com, an award-winning wine blog. His writing has appeared in dozens of publications, including The World of Fine Wine, The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post and Punch. He has appeared on a number of TV and radio programs, including NPR’s All Things Considered. Each guest/couple received a copy of But First, Champagne.
All proceeds support the Foundation's mission to provide additional resources to enrich the library’s commitment to empower the citizens of Baltimore County to explore, learn, create and connect.
