What could be better than spending an evening
dancing to great music, eating scrumptious food, chatting with friends, and having a great
time at a festive party and knowing you are helping the community at the same time?
Thats what over 350 guests did on April 5 at the Foundation for Baltimore County
Public Librarys 2nd annual Novel Night Gala held at the Towson Library. Back by popular demand, Mood Swings, "Baltimores youngest and swinginest Big Band," provided the music for the evening. Costumed actors from Lord Foppington & Company mingled with partygoers. Thirsty guests could try a Fiction Fizz or a Library Libation from the Dewey Decimated Martini Bar, sponsored by Smirnoff Twist.
The honorary chair for Novel Night 2003 was Donald Manekin, Partner and Senior Vice President of Manekin, LLC. The Foundation chose Mr. Manekin to receive this years Library Hero Award because of his extensive philanthropic work and his active efforts to benefit the children and youth in our community. This year, the Novel Night Gala raised $58,000 for the Foundations Read Rover Plus project. This project will provide a new Read Rover Plus bookmobile to serve preschoolers and their caregivers in neighborhoods where reading scores have been among the lowest in the area. Read more about our Read Rover Plus mobile library project on the Foundation's home page. Thank You! The Foundation would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the wonderful sponsors who helped make Novel Night 2003 a success, and brought us closer to our goal of purchasing the Read Rover Plus.
