Oh what a
night! April 24, 2004
Some interesting characters were on hand to spice up the evening. Abbott and Costello bantered with guests, and Dumbwaiters kept folks on their toes. A spectacular array
of raffle baskets adorned the hallway. This year’s raffle baskets were even
bigger and more valuable than last year – there were twelve baskets, valued
at over $400.00 each. Plus, some selected gifts were added for
bid in a silent auction. There was friendly but spirited competition
for such coveted treasures as a kayaking excursion, gym memberships, coffee
with County Executive Jim Smith, and an autographed ticket stub from Cal
Ripken's record-breaking game! Mood Swings revved up the party with their popular big band and jazz sounds. Guests could dance the night away, or simply enjoy listening to the music. The outdoor patio even allowed guests to enjoy the beautiful evening under the stars. $60,000 was raised through sponsorships, tickets sales, and raffle and silent auction receipts. $75,000 in in-kind media sponsorships helped get the word out. Piper Rudnick donated the lovely venue for the gala. Proceeds will be used for children's literacy projects. The Foundation would like to thank our wonderful sponsors.
