Last year, over 700,000 people participated in Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community, and what better place to start than with your local library? You can support the Foundation for Baltimore County Public Library by making a tax-deductible gift on November 28 using the link below.
You can also participate by posting an #UNselfie, or the selfless selfie, on Giving Tuesday as a powerful way to show how you are giving and why giving is important to you. Take a “selfie” with a caption (or have it on a card in the picture) explaining how or why you and/or your friends are “giving” this year. Always use the hashtags #UNselfie or #GivingTuesday. Post it to Instagram, Facebook and/or Twitter and share with friends!
