Q: When do gates open?
A: Gates open at 7 p.m. sharp.
Q: Where do I park?
A: Free parking is available at Reisterstown United Methodist Church, 246 Main Street, with overflow parking at the Franklin Middle and Elementary schools on Reisterstown Road. (See the parking map below.) Handicap accessible parking is available upon request. If you park at Reisterstown United Methodist Church, you will check in at the bridge in the corner of the lot that connects the church parking lot and the library branch parking lot. Follow the signs and look for the lights and check-in tables.
Q: Who are the bands this year?
A: Performing on the main stage is Edgar Allan & the Poe Boys and Porch Setters Union.
Q: What food options are offered this year?
A: This year we have Flash Crabcake Company, Just Like Home Indian Cuisine and The Reister's Daughter.
Q: How do I enter the Edgar Allan Poe costume contest and what time is it held?
A: If you are entering the contest, please sign up at the Info Booth inside the branch. Meet next to the stage at 7:45 p.m. for judging. The contest starts at 8 p.m. and the winner will be announced on stage.
Q: How do I go on the cemetery tour?
A: Cemetery tours are on a first-come, first-served basis. Queue up at the Reisterstown Community Cemetery booth. The tour lasts 10-15 minutes. Attendees may go multiple times as space and time allow. John Reister and other ghostly characters will be in the cemetery.
Q: Where can I find Edgar Allan Poe?
A: Mr. Poe can be found in the cemetery just inside the gate. You may interact, take photos with him upon request, ask questions and even request a few lines of poetry. You do not need to join a tour group to visit with Mr. Poe.
Q: When and where are the ghost stories?
A: Ghost stories are told continuously throughout the evening around the Ghost Story Fire Pit. The winners of our Tales of the Dead short horror story contest read at 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Our team of professional scarers (aka our librarians) fill in the other time slots.
Q: How do I purchase alcoholic beverages?
A: Beer and wine are available but can only be purchased with drink tickets. There are two drink ticket booths. You must have your hand stamped to purchase drink tickets. Beer is from RavenBeer Brewery. Soft drinks can be purchased from the food trucks.
Q: How do I get a commemorative glass or t-shirt?
A: Commemorative pint glasses and t-shirts are available at the merchandise booth, along with masks, Poe mustaches and prints.
Q: Is there seating available?
A: Seating is very limited and mostly found around the Ghost Story Fire Pit or in front of the stage. You are welcome to bring lawn/camp chairs or a blanket.
Q: Where are the bathrooms?
A: Bathrooms are located inside the branch. In addition, the branch has a local history display and an info booth where you can sign up for a library card and learn more about the library. Guests may roam the stacks, but there are no checkouts.
Q: How much are raffle tickets?
A: Chances for a raffle prize basket are available at the merchandise booth. Tickets are $10 each or three (3) for $20.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: A Toast Among Ghosts is held rain or shine. If the weather is severe, we'll move in into the branch. No refunds are available.
